Stream 2 Targeted – Experimental Research
The ministry will prioritize applications from the following disciplines: Automotive (includes electric vehicles); Artificial intelligence; Critical minerals (includes research that supports Ontario’s Ring of Fire); Genomics; Life sciences (supports Ontario’s Life Sciences Strategy and provides an opportunity to leverage funding from the Canada Biomedical Research Fund stage 2 competition); Medical devices; Quantum technology. |

The program will contribute eligible operating costs of an approved research project to a maximum of 1/3 of the total project costs, with the remaining 2/3 coming from a combination of applicant institution(s) and from private sector. The program will contribute 1/3 of project costs, which is inclusive of both direct and indirect cost support. |
