Question: Are you able to make yourselves proxies for other users?

Anser: Yes. Go to “Your Profile” by clicking on your name in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Click on the “Add a Proxy” option located below the “Edit Profile” button. There you can add an existing Pivot-RP user as a proxy who can edit your profile.

Question: UW Scholars is a site that Waterloo supports for representing your own scholarship. Does it have any integration with Pivot-RP?

Answer: There is no automatic integration between UW Scholar and Pivot because UW Scholar is an institution-specific software. However, we are integrated with ORCID, so if you already have some information there, you can have that come up on your Pivot profile as well. Go to your profile and click on the ORCID button to log in to your existing ORCID ID and sync the two. Now you can easily populate your Pivot profile with information from your ORCID profile. Similarly, if you have a profile on Google Scholar, you can export your data from there as well.

Question: When I log into Pivot-RP, I find that there are already a number of publications associated with me that I never uploaded. Why is that?

Answer: When the Pivot-RP team works to populate profiles, they try to get as much information as they can from publicly accessible sources. However, by no means do they guarantee that they are going to get it 100% right or complete; rather, they aim to give researchers a starting point they can further personalize.

Question: Since many researchers already have their publications listed on their personal websites and such, what value is there in adding those publications individually to one’s Pivot-RP profile in terms of being able to seek funding?

Answer: Researchers can simply add the URL (link) of the webpage that currently lists their publications instead of uploading each publication to Pivot-RP.  The Pivot-RP algorithm will still consider these publications for opportunity matching suggestions.  Researchers do not need to upload all their publications unless they want them displayed on their profile. 

Yes, go to funding tab.

Click "Search by Funder."

Find the funder you want to flag using the search bar and save that search. Every time that funder posts a new opportunity, there will be more “new searches” in your saved search tab, so you will get notified of it.

Yes. Go to Funding Tab.

Click on “Advanced Search.” 

Now you can search for opportunities that provide “more than” or “less than” of your entered amount.

You can also add an “Amount” filter to an existing search or an already saved search. First, click on the “Refine Search” button at the top of the screen.

Select your desired “more than” or “less than” filters. Run the search and then select to either save this search as a new search or update the current search.

Click "Save Search" and this pop up will appear.

When you do a funding search and you would like to track some or all of the opportunities in that search, you can click on the tiny checkmark box to the left of each opportunity. Doing this will show you for options at the top of the search, Track, Share, Export, and Curate.

If you want to track the opportunities you have checkmarked, you can give them a new tag or add them to a previous tag. Once that is done, you can find the Tracked Opportunities when you hover on the Home icon at the top left corner of the webpage. The second option will be Tracked Opps.

Once you’ve claimed your profile, you can click on the dropdown menu for your username at the top right corner of the webpage. From there you can go to “Your Profile.” Alternatively, you can click at “My Profile” tab that appears in the center of the Home page. Once your profile opens up, there is an option to “Edit Profile” located towards the top right.
