Internal deadline for safeguarding research assessments

For federal applications with STRAC:

• Sensitive Technology Research Affiliations of Concern (STRAC) attestation forms, reach out to the Safeguarding Research team or the Program Manager well before filling out your attestation form if you have questions or concerns. 

Internal deadline for research security assessments: minimum of one month in advance of sponsor deadline, including external Letter of Intent (LOI) and Notice of Intent (NOI) deadlines. 
*If the sponsor deadline is in less than 1 month, please reach out to the Safeguarding Research Team as soon as possible.  

The following information is due to Safeguarding Research team:

• Proposal abstract (full proposal if available)
• CVs for all named roles
• List of private sector and/or non-profit partners, if applicable. 

To allow sufficient processing time to support applicants with security mitigation plans, meeting this deadline is required for the proposal to be considered for submission to the sponsor.
 

Internal deadline for safeguarding research assessments

For federal and provincial applications with NSGRP and/or MEGR:

• NSGRP requirements (Includes selected federal research grants with partners (Corporate/Provincial/International institutions/Non-profit organizations))
• MEGR requirements (Includes all provincial research funding opportunities)

Internal deadline for research security assessments: minimum of one month in advance of sponsor deadline, including external Letter of Intent (LOI) and Notice of Intent (NOI) deadlines.

Internal submission deadline for full application: minimum of FIVE (5) business days in advance of sponsor deadline  

The following items are due by 9:00 a.m. on this internal deadline date: 

• approved electronic coversheet must be received by the Office of Research
• the final application, with all attachments, must be submitted through the relevant portal for institutional approval, or, in cases where an institutional signature is required, submission of the final application via email to the relevant program manager.

For example: 

• if sponsor deadline is November 1st, 2024, the application must be submitted for institutional approval by 9 a.m. October 25th, 2024
• or, if the sponsor deadline is September 11th, 2024, the application must be submitted for approval by 9 a.m. on September 5, 2024

NOTE: This deadline is universal – it applies whether or not the application is within the scope of the Sensitive Technology Research Affiliations of Concern (STRAC) and/or the National Security Guidelines for Research Partnerships (NSGRP)
