COUSA membership cancelled

UWSA Cancels COUSA Membership

On December 1, 2012, the UWSA dissolved its membership in the Confederation of Ontario University Staff Associations & Unions (COUSA).

On October 30, 2012, UWSA director Carlos Mendes presented a statement to the Board of Governors expressing concerns about some of the proposed changes to the university's pension plan. See the Daily Bulletin from November 5, 2012 for more details.

The University of Waterloo Staff Association Executive continues to review proposed changes to the Waterloo Pension Plan.  The effort, time, and commitment by the Pension and Benefits Committee to meeting the Government of Canada regulations have been remarkable.

This post is a “reprint” of an article published in the August 2011 edition of the UWSA Staff News. While the Staff News is already available online, given the interest in the article, I am re-posting it in our blog to make it easier for UWSA members (and others) to find and link to.
