The UWSA will be conducting a Staff Engagement Survey to help with its strategic planning and to identify general staff concerns that we can work towards improving.
The purpose of the Staff Life Cycle project is to identify goals and related initiatives that will contribute to making uWaterloo a highly attractive destination for staff, including members of CUPE, and to facilitating continuous development and growth of staff once they begin employment at uWaterloo.
On December 1, 2012, the UWSA dissolved its membership in the Confederation of Ontario University Staff Associations & Unions (COUSA).

The University of Waterloo Staff Association Executive continues to review proposed changes to the Waterloo Pension Plan. The effort, time, and commitment by the Pension and Benefits Committee to meeting the Government of Canada regulations have been remarkable.

The Ontario budget of March 25 included a section which called for a two year wage freeze for all public sector workers, except those with current collective agreements. The Confederation of Ontario University Staff Associations and Unions (COUSA) has attended meetings with other labour groups and the government and has forwarded a report on the latest information about government consultations. “Consultations on Public Sector Compensation Begin” is from Hicks Morley, a employer side legal firm. The Special Initiatives Fund (SIF) was created in 2009 by the Provost’s Advisory Committee on Staff Compensation (PACSC) for a two-year trial period. With a total budget of approximately $65,000 in annual funding, it is designed to support special projects suggested by staff in the university support group.
