SRC to hold open-session meetings

The mandate of the Staff Relations Committee (SRC) at the University of Waterloo is:

"To serve as a mechanism for communication between those responsible for the staff relations function of the University and the University staff:  to discuss any matters of concern in respect to staff-University relations or staff working conditions;  to forward any suggestions arising from discussions to the appropriate University deliberative body or administrative unit [...]"

As approved by the UWSA membership at a Special General Meeting held in July 2013, UWSA fees are being converted from a three-tier flat rate scheme to a percentage of salary system.  This change is being implemented for the November payroll.

Results of Special General Meeting

The University of Waterloo Staff Association held a Special General Meeting on July 23, 2013. Four separate motions were approved by the members present at the meeting resulting in the following changes:

STAFF LIFE CYCLE PROJECT: FINAL REPORT

Purpose: 

The purpose of the Staff Life Cycle Project is to identify ideas which could lead to action related to the renewed Strategic Plan for the University of Waterloo.  Once the Strategic Plan is approved, overall directions will have been set for the university.  One of these directions is for the University of Waterloo to be an ‘employer of choice’, and for staff to have opportunity to continue to grow and develop their competencies.

The web form to collect information for the second stage of the Staff Life Cycle is now closed.

The coordinators of the Staff Life Cycle project, Terry McMahon, Dean of Science, and Bruce Mitchell, interim Associate Provost, Human Resources, and the UWSA  thank you for your participation in providing feedback regarding: recruitment, career path & skills development, the USG classification system and our compensation system.

Staff Life Cycle: Project Update

The Staff Life Cycle project is nearing the end of stage 1 and preparing for stage 2.

In October 2012, the UWSA contracted professional advice from Eckler Ltd. regarding proposed pension plan changes (PDF) that were being recommended to the Board of Governors on October 30, 2012.

The purpose of the Staff Life Cycle project is to identify goals and related initiatives that will contribute to making uWaterloo a highly attractive destination for staff, including members of CUPE, and to facilitating continuous development and growth of staff once they begin employment at uWaterloo.
