Staff performance appraisal process

2020 was a different year, making it necessary to change the way staff is evaluated 

  • Staff members soon have two decisions to make regarding your process and your rating.  

  • You need to let your manager know your decisions as soon as possible, but before Friday, January 15, 2021.

UWSA distributed $14,000 to deserving Grad and Undergrad students recently.

The UWSA, in partnership with the ECU – A Division of WFCU Credit Union (formerly “Education Credit Union”) provides several awards valued at $500 or $1000 each:

We are excited to welcome new additions to the UWSA Board of Directors as they bring their expertise and knowledge to the table, while helping further the UWSA mission to represent the interests of UW Staff.

Pay schedule survey results

At the June 2020 Area Reps meeting with Vice-President Academic & Provost James Rush, a lengthy discussion took place about the regularity of pay for staff at UW. Although changing the pay schedule seemed cumbersome in the past, the introduction of WorkDay made a change more feasible.

Thank you, volunteers!

UWSA could not function without the help of over 90 volunteers! It looked very different this year, but UWSA held its annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on August 26. We had to locate off campus, but Bingemans was a wonderful host. One attendee summed up the event very nicely: 

The University of Waterloo Staff Association (UWSA) Communication and Membership Committee is pleased to provide this final results document based on our May 2020 COVID Climate Survey.

On July 14th, we published our preliminary results where we provided the numerical results of how prepared staff felt to do their job in the current conditions and how they felt we in the UWSA were doing in communicating with staff.
