The UWSA Appointments Committee is seeking one member to sit on the Staff Relations Committee for a two-year term starting immediately. Staff Relations Committee (SRC) members participate in the behind-the-scenes work of establishing and revising University-level policies that impact staff. They are also involved in ensuring that Policy 18 - Staff Employment is adhered to in any reorganizations that may occur during their term on SRC. The deadline to apply is August 24, 2023.

We hope everyone is doing okay and getting any necessary support following yesterday’s incident in Hagey Hall.

An event like this affects us all in different ways and we encourage our members to be understanding and compassionate toward each other, today and over the coming days and weeks. There are campus and community resources available to support you (some are listed at the end of this message), and if these are insufficient, please let us know.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth at the Staff Conference last week—it was wonderful to see so many of you in person after so long!

We have heard from staff about inequities as they relate to:

  • University closures
  • Working from home while sick,
  • Emergency Days, and
  • Access to equipment (e.g., a laptop computer) to work from home

We'd like to get a clear picture of practices across the University and are asking you to share what you've experienced in these situations.
