MActSc Admission Requirements

  • Four year honours bachelor degree with an average of 83% from a Canadian university (or international equivalent).
    • Note: students with backgrounds in any quantitative area such as engineering, mathematics, statistics, etc. are encouraged to apply. Those with a background in Actuarial Science should consider the MMath in Actuarial Science program
  • English language proficiency exams
    • TOEFL: 90 total (25 writing, 25 speaking)
    • IELTS: 7.0 total (6.5 writing, 6.5 speaking)

Admissions Process

  • All applications submitted prior to the January 15th deadline will be considered for admission.
  • Shortlisted students will be invited to take our online test. This takes approximately one hour and will asses your background in calculus, linear algebra, probability, and statistics. 

  • Selected candidates will be invited for a phone interview following the written test. This is an informal discussion lasting 20-30 minutes. Students being considered for the Mary R. Hardy Graduate Award in Actuarial Science will be informed during the interview. 

  • The first round of offers will be sent to successful applicants in mid-March. Additional rounds of offers may be sent depending on the acceptance rate. The recipient of the Mary R. Hardy award will be informed at this time. 


Program Fees

The MActSc is a professional program and students are responsible for covering their own tuition and fees. You can find more information posted in the tuition fee schedule under Graduate programs. Fees are posted for each term and the MActSc program is listed under the Mathematics faculty.
