Dr. Rob Gorbet (he/him) is a mechatronics engineer and an award-winning artist. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Knowledge Integration, where he teaches a capstone design course in museum exhibit design. Rob is passionate about making connections between people and ideas in ways that help others think differently about the world and their place within it. He is a key member of Gorbet Design, a Toronto-based design firm specializing in public interactive artwork and experiences, and a researcher in UW’s Living Architecture Systems Group.
Rob’s collaborative interactive artworks with LASG and others have been exhibited around the world and have won many awards, including being selected to represent Canada at the 2010 Venice Architecture Biennale. They have been featured in major print and online media, and on the Discovery Channel’s Daily Planet.
When not teaching or creating thought-provoking art, Rob is often delivering workshops to teachers, graduate students, and university professors on creativity, collaboration, and Design Thinking.
