There are many sources of financial support for Waterloo Engineering students.

Scholarships are based on academic excellence and academic contributions. Awards are based on financial need and other criteria such as leadership, community service, and academic excellence. Bursaries are based on financial need.

Featured scholarships and awards for Systems Design Engineering Students

Andy (Andreas) Baumgaertner Memorial Bursary

A bursary fund has been established in memory of Andy (Andreas) Baumgaertner to provide financial assistance to Systems Design Engineering students enrolled in third- or fourth-year in who have proven financial need.

Class of 1977 Systems Design Engineering Award

One award, valued at up $1,977, may be given annually to a fourth-year undergraduate student enrolled in Biomedical or Systems Design Engineering. Students may apply on their own behalf or be nominated by other student(s) currently enrolled in the Department of Systems Design Engineering or by a faculty member in the Department.

Mark Moore and Lucia Valerio Award for Systems Design

One award, valued at $2,000, will be provided annually to a full-time undergraduate student enrolled in Year Four of Systems Design Engineering.

Systems Design Engineering Perseverance Award

One award, valued at up to $1,000, is provided annually to a full-time undergraduate student who has successfully completed Year Two of Systems Design Engineering, after encountering academic difficulties during the 2A term.
