SYDE Graduate Symposium 2026

Save the date for the Systems Design Engineering (SYDE) Graduate Symposium on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 in Faculty Hall (PSE-7303/7363). 

The symposium schedule will be announced on March 24, 2026. Submit your abstract below to present your research!

Please complete this form to submit your abstract for the 2026 SYDE Graduate Symposium. By submitting an abstract, you are confirming your availability to present your seminar at the department symposium on April 7, 2026. Your abstract should read like a proper one-page conference abstract, be between 300-500 words, and must be approved by your supervisor(s) before submission. Submissions will be reviewed by the department and participation in the symposium is subject to department approval. The date and schedule will be finalized at least two weeks prior. 

The Graduate Research symposium abstract and presentation can count as your Seminar Presentation Milestone provided that it satisfies the following conditions:

  • The topic of the abstract and presentation is your research and thesis
  • This is the final year of your MASc or PhD program

The deadline for submissions is March 12, 2026; submissions received after this date will not be accepted.

Have you chosen your committee members yet?
Your supervisor(s) and committee members should be invited to attend your seminar. Their presence is strongly encouraged, but not mandatory.
Your thesis committee membership should be established in conjunction with your supervisor(s) at least two weeks prior to your seminar. You should invite your supervisor(s) and committee members to attend; their presence is strongly encouraged, but not mandatory. Program information
Your supervisor(s) and all members of your comprehensive examination committee should be invited to attend your seminar. Their presence is strongly encouraged, but not mandatory.
