SYDE’s Professor John Yeow has been awarded the 2021 IEEE NTC Distinguished Service Award by the IEEE Nanotechnology Technical Council. The award in large part reflects his distinguished service and accomplishments as an Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Nanotechnology Magazine. John and his family have been living in Taipei, Taiwan 2020-2021 while John focuses on sabbatical research. His work has been focused on highly miniaturized X-ray and THz devices. He is partnering with Huawei to develop the next-generation of wearable devices. John’s graduate students and PDFs are still working in the lab at UWaterloo under COVID re-opening protocols. Professor Yeow, Director of the Advanced Micro and Nano Devices Lab, is a Waterloo University Research Chair and also an elected Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.
