Rasmus Lerdorf, SYDE'93 alumnus, is the recipient of the Faculty of Engineering 2017 Alumni Achievement Medal for Professional Achievement. Twenty-two years ago, he single-handedly created the PHP scripting language, which was the first simple and elegant approach to allowing dynamic content on web pages. Today, PHP powers the vast majority of the world’s websites, and no other software in the world has had a greater influence on the Internet, an incredible impact.
