Piano installed in memory of cherished professor

The Department of Systems Design Engineering (SYDE) has installed a piano in the Engineering 7 6^th floor atrium (E7 6301) in honour of Professor Igor Ivkovic, who passed away suddenly in 2020. Professor Ivkovic was a passionate teacher and leader in the SYDE community and is greatly missed.

The piano is a tribute to Professor Ivkovic, who was a talented classical guitarist. The piano received an informal welcome on November 26 with an Open Mic Marathon, where classical music and covers of popular songs like “Riptide” by Vance Joy could be heard through the atrium. All are invited to continue to play the piano and make music for all to enjoy.

The Professor Igor Ivkovic Memorial Fund was established in partnership with SYDE, Engineering Advancement and Professor Ivkovic’s family.
