Igor Acts of Kindness Day - April 2, 2023

In memory of Dr. Igor Ivkovic, the Department of Systems Design Engineering (SYDE) holds Igor Acts of Kindness Day annually on April 2. On this day, we invite you to brighten someone’s day in his honour through a small gesture of kindness.

Some ideas for an act of kindness:

  • Tell someone something you appreciate about them
  • Encourage a classmate working on a project
  • Bring a friend a treat (Igor’s favourite was Timbits!)
  • Do an extra chore around your home
  • Write a recommendation for a classmate on LinkedIn
  • Make a gratitude list in the morning and again in the evening
  • Tip a food service worker or delivery driver
  • Send a thank you card (in the mail!) to someone who made a difference in your life.
  • Put your phone away while in the company of others
  • Donate gently used clothes or household items

Share your act of kindness in the form below to enter a random prize draw to win a $25 WatCard transfer ($25 Tim Hortons gift card for alumni). Dr. Lisa Aultman-Hall, SYDE Professor and Chair will also donate $50 to one of the following charities in honour of each winner.

  • The Food Bank of Waterloo Region
  • Canadian Mental Health Association of Waterloo Wellington (CMHA WW)
  • The Humane Society of Kitchener-Waterloo

Submissions must be received by Wednesday, April 5 at 5:00 p.m. ET.

We welcome you to share your act of kindness on social media with #42IgorKindness
