GHC 2024 Student Reflection: Abirami Karthikeyan

Attending the Grace Hopper Celebration for the first time as a third-year computer science student was an incredible experience. The event was overwhelmingly positive, and I walked away very inspired with valuable insights. Listening to the stories of so many remarkable women, their challenges, and their achievements was truly moving.

The talks were captivating, but what made the experience even more special was the opportunity to network with a diverse group of passionate individuals in the field. Everyone was so approachable, and there was a strong sense of community throughout the event.

One of my favorite aspects was the chance to connect with people in a more casual setting. I loved hearing their unique stories and learning from their experiences. I got to hear about their careers, what they loved and disliked about working in tech, and the challenges they’ve overcome along the way. I learned from them to get help when needed, enjoy the journey, learn from others, and grow as an individual!

The Grace Hopper Celebration was unlike any event I’ve attended before, and it left a lasting impact on me. I would highly recommend it to anyone who has the opportunity to attend!
