GHC 2024 Student Reflection: WiCS Undergraduate Student

Attending the Grace Hopper Conference in Philadelphia was an empowering experience. Throughout the four-day conference, I had the opportunity to speak with and receive valuable career advice from women who have worked in the tech space for 10+ years. The Grace Hopper Conference was a great event to expand my network, and I am happy to have established connections with brilliant women who share similar interests as me. One of my favorite parts about GHC was traveling with the other WiCS students. I was able to enjoy the conference experience with my peers and I developed new friendships from the trip, which I am thankful for. Lastly, one of the most exciting parts about GHC is the opening and closing plenaries. Famous actors, including America Ferrera and Viola Davis, took part in the plenary and spoke about their career experiences as women and as part of a minority. In Davis’ speech, she emphasized the importance of supporting women in our community. Her speech resonated with me and made me reflect on the ways I can support other women at my university. Overall, I am grateful to have attended the Grace Hopper Conference and have met so many inspiring individuals. Thank you for this opportunity!
