Scholarships and awards

There are many sources of financial support for Waterloo Engineering students.

Scholarships are based on academic excellence and academic contributions. Awards are based on financial need and other criteria such as leadership, community service, and academic excellence. Bursaries are based on financial need.

Featured scholarships and awards for Architectural Engineering Students

Jack Wiseman Award

An award, valued at up to $3,000, is given annually to a third-or fourth-year undergraduate student enrolled in Architectural Engineering or Civil Engineering or a graduate student enrolled in Civil Engineering who demonstrates a commitment to Construction or Project Management through course work, project work, or work term job experience.

Bird Construction Capstone Design Award

One award, valued at $5,000, will be provided to an undergraduate student team enrolled in Year Four of Architectural or Civil Engineering and undertaking a fourth-year Capstone Design project. Selection will be based on proposals that, in the opinion of the selection committee, demonstrate a potential for significant innovation in construction waste management and waste reduction strategies.

GHL Consultants Capstone Design Award

One award, valued at $5,000, will be provided to an undergraduate student team enrolled in Year Four of Architectural or Mechanical Engineering and undertaking a fourth-year Capstone Design project. Selection will be based on proposals that, in the opinion of the selection committee, focus on fire engineering or building codes.

Brian Le Lievre Scholarship

Two scholarships, valued at $2,500 each, will be awarded to the top two full-time undergraduate students entering Year Three of Architectural, Civil, or Environmental Engineering.
