Undergraduate facilities
There are several facilities available to Architectural Engineering students, such as the makerspace and the Architectural Engineering studio.
Design Days
You will be engaged in hands-on experiential learning and engineering design from your first day of classes. This two-day design event will take place instead of scheduled classes, during your first week of classes. Working within a team, you will need to design and construct a piece of furniture out of cardboard and hydrostone. The final design and construction is pitched before a panel of judges on the second day, tested for strength and stability, and prizes awarded to the winning team.
Warrior Home
The University of Waterloo's Warrior Home Design Team was the only Canadian team represented at the US Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2020 Build Competition and one of two remaining in the 2023 competition. It is a popular extracurricular technical team among our AE students. After three years of hard work, members of the Warrior Home design team were thrilled to finish second overall at the 2020 Build Challenge.
