Dan is an architect practicing in Toronto focused on the ways in which architecture and urban design can enable communities and shape new publics. As an Associate at Perkins&Will, Dan leads and contributes to many complex civic projects, with a particular focus on spaces of learning and research on university and college campuses. By striving to understand functional, cultural, historical, economic, and environmental layers that structure a project, Dan produces resilient and timeless architecture which inspires community to form and come together in unexpected ways.

Prior to rejoining Perkins&Will in 2015, Dan was an Associate at the practice of RVTR, where, with Geoff Thun (Smale 1994) and Kathy Velikov, he developed new tools for analyzing and critiquing the spatial and non-spatial networks and infrastructures that underpin urbanity while also developing proposals for new socio-political possibilities from within the milieu. Dan led the multi-office and multi-disciplinary team for the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal competition completed with RVTR, Clement Blanchet Architecture, Scott Torrance Landscape, and Batle I Roig.

Dan has held lecturer and adjunct positions at both the University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning as well as the University of Waterloo School of Architecture and also serves as a guest critic locally and internationally.
