The Student Investment Fund
The School of Accounting and Finance has established the Student Investment Fund (SIF) to provide students with an educational experience in an institutional setting. The Fund provides students hands-on-training in equity valuation and portfolio management with guidance from industry experts and supervision by finance faculty.
The Student Venture Fund
The primary goal of the Student Venture Fund (SVF) is to provide students with hands-on training in venture capital investing with guidance from industry experts and supervision by finance faculty.
The SVF will allow students to evaluate founding management, complete market research, value companies, conduct thorough due diligence, recommend and make investment recommendations, work with other angel and institutional investors, and manage a portfolio of investments in early stage companies.
Velocity
Join Velocity’s experiential innovation hub at the University of Waterloo. They provide information, guidance, and programs for the entrepreneurially-minded and tailored pre-incubator programs for aspiring startup founders. Their mission is to provide experiences that inspire and inform entrepreneurial students from all backgrounds and life experiences. Whether you have an idea, are working on a project, or have an early prototype, Concept wants to help you.
Competitions
Students at the School of Accounting and Finance have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of competitions both in and outside of the University of Waterloo. Engaging in competitions while pursuing a degree at the School of Accounting and Finance is an exceptional way to transfer theoretical knowledge gained from coursework into practical applications. Moreover, these competitions encourage team-oriented tasks, fostering collaboration and communication.
