Southern Stiff-leaved Goldenrod
Solidago rigida ssp. glabrata (E.L. Braun) Heard & Semple is distinguished by its hairless outer phyllaries and leaves and stems that are glabrous or ± hispid (Semple & Cook 2006 FNA). The subspecies occurs in scattered locations on prairies, glades, savannas, dry open areas, especially on calcareous soils in the southeastern U.S. north to Missouri and Ohio (see map S. rigida). The subspecies is diploid 2n=18.
