Bog Aster, aster des tourbières
Oclemena nemoralis (Ait.) Greene is native to Sphagnum bogs and very poor fens, edges of floating bogs, damp sandy shores, acidic or peaty lakeshores, pond margins, cracks in acidic, barren rocks in perhumid areas (Nfld.) of boreal northeastern North America from Ontario to Newfoundland south to Maryland (Brouillet 2006 FNA). It may be extirpated in Delaware. The species has been incorrectly included in Aster, Eucephalus and Galatella. The species is diploid (2n=18). The species hybridizes with O. acuminata (F1 = O. ×blakei).
