Oreostemma alpigenum subsp. andersonii

Anderson's Mountaincrown Aster

Oreostemma alpigenum var. andersonii (A. Gray) G.L. Nesomis native to bogs, marshes, moist to wet meadows, lake edges, pine woods, alpine tundra of the Cascade Mts. of southern Oregon and northern California and the Sierra Nevada range of California and adjacent Nevada (Nesom 2006 FNA).  The subspecies is distinguished by its linear-oblanceolate to narrowly oblanceolate basal leaf blades with acute apices and its strigulose fruit.  The subspecies includes diploids (2n=18) and tetraploids (2n=36).
