Doellingeria infirma (Michx.) Greene is native to the Appalachian Mts. and Piedmont from Ohio and Massachusetts south to Georgia and on uplands south to Panhandle Florida (Semple and Chmiewlewski 2006 FNA). The species has a fewer-headed more lax-branched inflorescence than D. umbellata. The species occurs on rich loam and dry rocky soils of deciduous woods. The species is diploid 2n=18.
