Symphyotrichum concolor var. concolor

Symphyotrichum concolor var. concolor occupies nearly all of the range of the species from Massacusetts to Florida west to Kentucky and Louisiana (Brouillet et al. 2006 FNA). The upper leaves and phyllaries are moderately to densely silky hairy.  Usually the rays are violet, very rarely white.  The variety is diploid with x=4 (2n=8).
