Few-headed Grass-leaved Goldenaster
Pityopsis oligantha (Shuttlew. ex Small) Small is native to the Florida Panhandle and adjacent Alabama and extreme southwestern Georgia. Plants from Central America thought to be in this species belong in P. graminofolia var. latifolia. Heads 1–5(–10), in corymbiform arrays; phyllaries are glandular (Semple 2006 FNA).
This species is the only normally spring flowering taxa in the genus, although other taxa might bloom early under some conditions.
