Solidago brachyphylla Chapman ex Torrey & A. Gray is native to the southeastern U.S. It has 0–(1–2) rays and leaves that are densely and finely puberulent (Semple & Cook 2006 FNA). The upper stem leaves can be very small. FNA note the species as possibly occurring also in Mississippi; a number of collections from the state has been seen post FNA. The species is diploid 2n=18.
