Solidago flexicaulis

Zig-zag or Broadleaved goldenrod, verge d’or à tige zigzaguante

Solidago flexicaulis L. is a colony forming woodland goldenrod native central eastern North America.  The upper stem is distinctive bent at the nodes (Semple & Cook 2006 FNA).  Chmielewski & Semple (1985) examined the cytogeography of the species in Ontario.Cook & Semple (2008) discussed the cytogeography of the species that includes diploid (2n=18) and tetraploid (2n=36) plants that tend to be allopatrically distributed.
