Basin or Nevada Goldenrod
Solidago spectabilis (D. C. Eaton) A. Gray is native to boggy or marshy grounds, alkaline meadows and hot springs in Nevada and adjacent states. Thg phyllaries usually narrowly ovate to lanceolate, margins flat, tips obtuse to acuminate; rays usually 8–12 (Semple & Cook 2006 FNA). The range is shown on the same map as S. confinis. The species is diploid (2n=18).
In the polygenomic phylogeny of Solidago (Semple et al. 2023), the S. spectabilis sample formed the sister branch to the very strongly supported S. confinis-S. guiradonis clade, with the three species forming a very strongly supported clade.
