Updates for the fall 2021 term

As we begin to welcome students on campus, we’ll also be expanding some in-person services through the Centre for Career Action (CCA). All services will continue to be offered virtually in the fall term, with the added option to attend some appointments in person as of September 20th.

The Tatham Centre will be open with front-desk support beginning September 7, 2021. Our staff will follow all safety guidelines and students are expected to adhere to these guidelines to access all in-person services.

The Centre for Career Action will continue to offer all of our services virtually for fall 2021. Here is a full list of services and how they will be delivered for the fall term:

Co-op Consults

In-person and virtually

Co-op consults are available to support pre-first work term co-op students either in person or virtually on a first-come-first-served basis.

Students can access in-person support Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. ET, beginning
September 20, 2021.

Appointments

In-person and virtually

Appointments are available both in-person and virtually for undergraduate students, graduate students and postdocs. These include résumé, cover letter, CV, further education, interview, work search, online presence and career planning appointments. Limited in-person student appointments will begin on September 20, 2021

Note: Alumni and staff/faculty appointments will continue to be virtual (only) throughout the fall term.

Interview Space

In-person

Beginning September 14, 2021, private rooms are available in the Tatham Centre for those who need access to a quiet space to conduct their virtual interviews. To book a room, submit a “Request room in TC for remote interview” form on WaterlooWorks. 

Students must bring their own interview equipment. On-site technical troubleshooting is not available. 

Private Office Space for Virtual Appointments, Same-Day Drop-ins, and Co-op Consults

In-person

Beginning September 7, 2021, private office spaces are available in the Tatham Centre on a walk-in basis to attend virtual CCA drop-ins, co-op consults and appointments.

Office space can be pre-booked through email, live chat or phone (519-888-4047), as well as on a walk-in basis at the front desk beginning September 7, 2021.

Important safety guidelines

Please carefully read all safety guidelines before visiting the Tatham Centre. We take the health and safety of our students, staff and faculty seriously and have protocols in place to ensure a safe environment for everyone. 

  • All in-person appointments and co-op consults will be in the Tatham Centre. Please check-in and out at the CCA front desk upon arrival.
  • All Waterloo community members must complete daily COVID-19 screening upon arriving on campus. If you are feeling unwell, please cancel your appointment. Our Client Support team is available to assist you with rebooking at a later date. Call 519-888-4047 or send a live chat message here
  • Due to COVID-19, please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment. 
  • Wearing a mask is mandatory while in the Tatham Centre and during your in-person appointment. 
  • Please sanitize your hands upon arrival at the Tatham Centre and during your visit. Complimentary hand sanitizer is available throughout the building. 
  • During your appointment, social distancing protocols are in effect. This means both you and the Career Advisor will need to remain 2 metres apart. Please do not bring a hard copy of your résumé, cover letter or CV with you. We encourage you to bring a laptop to facilitate digital sharing during the appointment. 
  • Proof of vaccination is now required for campus access. Starting September 7, 2021, everyone in the University of Waterloo community, including visitors, must provide proof of vaccination before coming to campus. Submit your proof of vaccination or application for accommodation here
