Join the Department of Drama and Speech Communication for a performance by visiting artist-researcher E. Patrick Johnson, The Beekeeper: Performing Black Southern Women Who Love Women.

E. Patrick Johnson is the Carlos Montezuma Professor of Performance Studies and African American Studies at Northwestern University. He has published widely in the area of race, gender, sexuality and performance, and is the author of two award-winning books, Appropriating Blackness:  Performance and the Politics of Authenticity (Duke UP, 2003), and Sweet Tea: Black Gay Men of the South—An Oral History (University of North Carolina UP, 2008).

This performance is co-presented by the Department of English Language and Literature, the Dean of Arts Office, the Women's Studies program, the Equity Office, and the Status of Women and Equity Committee (SWEC).

Doors open at 4:30pm. A reception will follow the performance.
