Application deadlines
Applications are now open for the September 2025 intake.
Completed applications, including all required documents and ideally the interview, must be submitted by the following deadlines to be considered for the September intake of the same year.
There is only 1 intake per year for MBET in the fall term (September).
Full-time
Application deadline: June 1
All full-time MBET applications received by June 1 will automatically be considered for entrance academic scholarships.
International students:We recommend that you complete your application by April 1 to provide ample time to obtain a study permit or visa and join the MBET class in time in September. If you miss this deadline, you can still apply until the final deadline of June 1.
Part-time
For the part-time option, applications will be considered until mid-late August. However, we recommend that you apply by the beginning of August.
Admissions requirements
You must meet the following minimum admissions requirements to be considered for the MBET program. Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate applicable experience and goals in venture creation or launching new initiatives in organizations to enhance the company's value proposition. Experience and passion for creating new non-profit organizations, charities or social movements is also viewed favourably.
MBET is a professional, course-based program so you do not need to secure a supervisor.
We encourage you to apply early as admission is competitive and space to the program is limited.
Academic
Academic requirements apply for both the full-time and part-time MBET options. The minimum academic requirement is based on an undergraduate degree.
We do not require a Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
- If you completed an honours degree at a Canadian institution, you're required to have a minimum overall average of 75% (or equivalent) over 4 years or a minimum overall average of 75% (or equivalent) over the last 2 years for admission.
- If you are an international applicant or new Canadian citizen or permanent resident and obtained your undergraduate degree outside of Canada, you are required to have a minimum overall average of 75% (or equivalent) over 4 years in your previous honours degree program for admission.
Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA) provides a guideline on international admission equivalencies. Look up the country from where you obtained your undergraduate degree for a guide on equivalency to the minimum requirement above.
You will need to provide digital copies of your (unofficial) transcript and degree(s) documents for your online application. Transcripts and degree documents for all formal, post-secondary education should be included, even if it is not required. For example, although you are not required to have a post-graduate degree to apply for the MBET program you have one (or more), please include this on your application.
Work experience
A minimum of one year of full-time work experience obtained either through co-operative work terms as part of an undergraduate academic program or through post-graduate work experience.
On average, MBET students (both in the full-time and part-time options) have approximately five years of work experience. You will need to provide a copy of your résumé/Curriculum Vitae (CV) for your online application.
References
For both the full-time and part-time MBET options, we require three references; one academic, one professional and one either academic or professional.
References are collected electronically through the online application system. You will be required to provide the name, title and official/formal email address for all of your referees. Referees will automatically receive an email from GSPA with instructions to complete a reference score sheet and return it.
We will not accept emails from generic, consumer domains such as gmail.com, or hotmail.com. You do not have to collect reference letters yourself, but it is recommended you notify referees in advance.
Please review the Graduate Studies Reference Guidelines for complete details on who qualifies as a reference.
