The Conrad Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology Centre is pleased to announce the appointment of Shavin Malhotra to our faculty. In his new role, he will teach BET 601: Strategically Managing the Entrepreneurial Organization in the Master of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology (MBET) program.

Prior to joining the Conrad Centre, Shavin was an Associate Professor in Global Management Studies at Ryerson University, where he was honoured by Ryerson students as “A Prof Who Made a Mark.” In addition to being a highly-rated teacher, he is a respected researcher with publications in several leading management and international business journals, including Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, and Journal of World Business.

His current research focuses on corporate strategies, CEO personality and cognition, international expansion, influence of host and home country characteristics on international acquisitions, and the role of heuristics in strategic decision making. His research earned him the Ryerson University Dean’s Scholarly Research Award in 2014 and 2011, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Insight Development Grant in 2013, and four best paper awards at conferences in 2005, 2009, 2013, and 2014.

Shavin holds a PhD in Business Administration from Carleton University, an MBA in Marketing from Panjab University, and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Delhi University. He also has five years of experience as a marketing and business development executive in the private sector.

I am delighted to join the Conrad team. The opportunity to work with some of the most innovative students and faculty in Canada is both humbling and thrilling.

I look forward to learning how the University of Waterloo delivers its world-class services and how I can apply my research to bring value to our students and to the wider community."
