Innovation Management researcher joins Conrad faculty

It is with great pleasure that the Conrad Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology Centre announces the appointment of Nada Basir to our faculty. We are thrilled to welcome Nada to Conrad as we expand our undergraduate programming to include the cross-campus Minor in Entrepreneurship.

Nada Basir
Nada is a versatile entrepreneur with experience in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. She is a founding team member and senior advisor at Location Genius, a big data analytics startup. Previously, Nada was a co-founder of the Canadian Libyan Council, an organization that sought to raise awareness about the Libyan revolution and foster political and social connections between Canada and Libya. Nada also has experience in strategy, marketing, and product development, specifically as it relates to the pharmaceutical industry. 

Nada previously taught at the Schulich School of Business at York University and in the Faculty of Business and Information Technology at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. Her doctoral education is in Business Administration (Strategic Management and Policy) at Schulich; she holds a Masters of Science in Biotechnology with a minor in Business from McGill University and a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biotechnology from the University of Waterloo. Nada's research is focused on how innovation happens, in both social and corporate contexts.     

In her role at the Conrad Centre, Nada will teach Social Entrepreneurship and Corporate Social Responsibility at the graduate level in BET 620 and the undergraduate level in BET 420.

UWaterloo is home to some of the most innovative students and companies in the world. For someone who is incredibly passionate about entrepreneurship and innovation, I can’t imagine being in a more fitting place.
