ConradConnect Live at the DMZ

In June the Conrad School hosted the latest ConradConnect Live event, this time at the Ryerson DMZ in downtown Toronto. ConradConnect Live is an opportunity for the Conrad School to host our students and alumni in a casual environment to network with each other, Conrad School faculty and staff, and community members. 

The event at the DMZ featured student pitches from current full-time students in the Master of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology (MBET) program, who pitched their ventures for a chance to win cash prizes.

The following companies, selected by their peers, pitched at the event:

SoundBooth

SoundBooth Logo

Founders pitching: Kenneth Wiafe and Samir Javer

SoundBooth is a mobile platform that acts as a centralized hub for music venues and DJs to connect and collaborate on all their scheduling and sound equipment needs.

Giraffe

Founder pitching: Sisi Gong

Giraffe is a provider of web-based pre-employment assessment services designed to make it easy for organizations to hire people with disabilities.

Platable

Platable allows restaurants to entice guests and extend their experience beyond the physical space, while giving guests a platform to enter, engage with and exit the restaurant in a seamless and modern fashion.

CataLight

CataLight has developed an affordable and reusable point-of-use water treatment unit to provide people in developing countries with affordable, safe drinking water. 

Karus Health

Co-founder pitching: Aliya Kassamali

Karus Health connects patients and pharmacists. The platform allows pharmacists to send individualized monitoring plans to each patient and follow-up in real time.

And the winners are…

First place, and $1,500, was awarded to Karus Health. In second place was Giraffe, who received $500; SoundBooth, Platable, and CataLight all walked away with $300 each.
