Do your part to stop the COVID outbreak

Update for students and employees

As you are all aware, we are currently working closely with Region of Waterloo public health officials to manage a serious outbreak of COVID-19 in our residence community.

I know this is a concern for our students and for employees who work in the residences. Please know that working together now is more important than ever as we seek to control this outbreak.

Case tracking: six new cases in residence outbreak

On Tuesday, March 30, 2021, Region of Waterloo public health informed us that an additional six people who live on or have visited our campus tested positive for COVID-19.

All of the cases part of the outbreak of COVID-19 in University of Waterloo residences, bringing the total in the outbreak to 27. (Note: a previous version of this update incorrectly identified five new cases, for a total of 26 cases.)

Case tracking: ten new cases as outbreak declared in all residences

On Monday, March 29, 2021, Region of Waterloo public health informed us that ten people who live on or have visited our campus tested positive for COVID-19.

Case tracking: one community member tests positive

On Thursday, March 25, 2021, Region of Waterloo public health informed us of one individual who tested positive for COVID-19 and had visited our campus.

They individual is in self-isolation and officials have been in touch with all known close contacts .

If you have not been identified as a close contact of the individual, you should continue to follow our on-campus safety procedures including our campus check in screening daily, and self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and seek testing if needed.

Case tracking: Five new cases in outbreak at University of Waterloo Place residence

On Wednesday, March 24, Region of Waterloo public health informed us that five people who live on or have visited our campus tested positive for COVID-19.

Three of the people who tested positive currently reside in residence buildings at University of Waterloo Place on campus. Two others live in off-campus housing. As a result, Region of Waterloo public health has declared an outbreak at University of Waterloo Place.
