Case tracking: cluster of concern leads to one new case, outbreak at Claudette Millar Hall

On Wednesday, March 17, 2021, Region of Waterloo public health informed us one person on our campus has tested positive for COVID-19.

This case is a close contact of an individual who tested positive on March 14. Both individuals are in self isolation. As a result, Region of Waterloo public health has declared an outbreak in Claudette Millar Hall.

Large cluster of COVID cases leads to outbreak

Update for the UWaterloo community

  • We are managing a COVID-19 outbreak of two cases in Claudette Millar Hall.

  • Public health officials have identified that the cases may be linked to a large cluster of COVID cases in the community.

  • If you do not hear from public health officials, you should continue to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and seek testing if needed. We all need to avoid social gatherings to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Case tracking: two community members test positive

Region of Waterloo public health have informed us of two individuals on our campus who have tested positive for COVID-19. One individual tested positive on Saturday, March 13 and the other tested positive on Sunday, March 14.

Both individuals are in self isolation and public health officials have been in touch with all relevant close contacts.

If you have not been identified as a close contact of these individuals, you should continue to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and seek testing if needed.

It has been a long and difficult 12 months dealing with the challenges presented by the pandemic. In retrospect, it has also been a truly inspiring time considering all that we have accomplished, and I am grateful for the work that you have all done over the past year to help support our students, staff, and faculty to manage, progress and thrive during the pandemic.
