Award description:
One scholarship, valued at $15,000, will be provided annually to a graduate student registered full-time in the Master’s or Doctoral program in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering; preference will be given to doctoral candidates. Selection will be based on academic excellence along with demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in the materials joining and allied technologies services industry. Interested students should submit an application found on the Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering website by October 1st. This fund is made possible by a donation from the CWB Welding Foundation.

Eligibility & election criteria:
- Full-time graduate students registered in the Master’s or PhD program in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering; preference will be given to doctoral candidates.
- Selection to be based on academic excellence (minimum cumulative average of 80% or equivalent over the last two full-time academic years) and demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in the materials joining and allied technologies services industry.
- If UW is unable to issue an award in a given year, the funds will be held with a view to providing an additional award the following year.
- Interested students must complete an application found on the Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering website and submit it by October 1st. Students who applied for the “CWB Welding Foundation Graduate Scholarship for Women” will be automatically considered for this scholarship without the need for a separate application.
- This award is in addition to any other funding offered.
- The Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering will select recipients normally each Fall.
