Award description:
One scholarship, valued at $15,000, will be provided annually to a female graduate student registered full-time in the Master’s or Doctoral program in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering; preference will be given to doctoral candidates. Selection will be based on academic excellence (minimum cumulative average of 80% or equivalent over the last two full-time academic years) along with demonstrated interested in pursuing a career in the materials joining and allied technologies services industry. Interested students should submit an application found on the Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering website by October 1st. This fund is made possible by a donation from the CWB Welding Foundation.

Eligibility & selection criteria: 

  • Full-time female graduate students registered in the Master’s or PhD program in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering; preference will be given to doctoral candidates.
  • Selection to be based on academic excellence (minimum cumulative average of 80% or equivalent over the last two full-time academic years) and demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in the materials joining and allied technologies services industry.
  • If Waterloo is unable to issue an award in a given year, the funds will be held with a view to providing an additional award the following year.
  • Interested students must complete an application found on the Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering website and submit it by October 1st.
  • This award is in addition to any other funding offered.
  • The Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering will select one recipient for the award in fall 2023 and winter 2024.
