Award description:
One scholarship valued at $20,000, will be awarded to a graduate student who is registered full-time in a Master's or PhD program and who is conducting research in topics aligned with quantum-safe cryptography. Students who apply to the program with the intention of completing the Diploma in Quantum-Safe Cryptography (currently under approval) are also eligible. Selection will be based on academic excellence (minimum 80% cumulative average in their current program or over the last two full-time academic years), publications, and lay abstract of research proposal. The student's research plan must be aligned to quantum safe cryptography and must have a supervisor willing to supervise in quantum-safe cryptography research. An award application is not required. The University of Waterloo Cryptography/Cryptoworks21 Selection Committee will select a recipient annually based on the candidate's application for admission to the program. The University of Waterloo Cryptography/Cryptoworks21 Selection Committee will consist of the Director of Crypto Works21, a representative from Math, a representative from Science, and a representative from Engineering, nominated by the Director of Cryptoworks21.
