Tapered semiconductor nanowires form bright, nearly dephasing-free sources of entangled photon pairs when grown with an embedded quantum dot. An outstanding challenge with these sources is the presence of fine-structure splitting, which causes the output state to precess rapidly and degrades the measured entanglement fidelity . The effects of fine-structure splitting can be “erased” once the photons have been emitted using a flexible all-optical approach which requires a rapidly rotating half-waveplate . Commercially available off-the-shelf systems cannot emulate a half-waveplate rotating at the required speeds. I present an electro-optic device which can.
