Two Environment students are among the top recipients of The Starfish Canada's environmentalist award. Congratulations to Michelle Angkasa and Sriranjini Raman for being awarded the Top 25 Under 25 Environmentalists 2022.
Sriranjini Raman was recognized for her role as the creator of the climate literacy programs, Nurture and Pluriversity, which empowers youth to take charge of their communities. Sriranjini has supported grassroots movements, not-for-profits, social enterprises, and impact firms on Intersectional Environmental Justice in India, Canada and internationally. She is dedicated to reconnecting with nature and providing youth with opportunities to practice land stewardship. Sriranjini is a fourth year ERS student with a minor in international development.
Michelle Angkasa has taken part in various environmental initiatives and is a champion of sustainability efforts at the University of Waterloo as the University’s first sustainability commissioner. They have been part of many initiatives and facilitated projects that were led by students and inspired by sustainable development goals as a programming coordinator at ReImagine17, a national network of youths working to reinvent solutions to social, environmental, and economic concerns. Michelle is an Environment and Business student with a minor in ERS.
The Starfish Canada recognizes and celebrates upcoming environmentalists by providing them with a platform to share their stories and connect with the community.
