Jennifer is currently engaged in several research projects around the themes of food, agriculture, and the environment. One is a study of the role of financial speculation in the global food system, and its implications for the international governance of food and agriculture and the environment. Research in this project focuses on how financial speculation has affected the politics of large-scale land acquisitions, biofuel investment and food price volatility. A second project is focused on the sustainability challenge for the global governance of food and agriculture. This project examines the environmental dimensions of the global agricultural trade, investment, aid and financial regimes. These projects may provide opportunities for one or two research assistantships.
