FAUW has received several concerns from members about the Changes to Parking Services and fees announced March 20. We are also monitoring the response to this announcement on social media. 

We want to thank our members for their overwhelming engagement on this topic and for bringing these concerns to the FAUW Board and staff. 

FAUW is looking into this process further, along with member concerns about these changes. We hope to have more to report by our Spring General Meeting on April 9. 

This election is for five directors representing the faculties of: Arts, Engineering, Environment, Health, and Science.

The FAUW Equity Committee is currently seeking nominations for the 2024 Equity & Inclusivity Award.

Inaugurated in 2012, the Equity & Inclusivity Award recognizes a member, group, or affiliate of the University of Waterloo community. The award is meant to further support individuals or groups who have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to improving equity, inclusivity, and/or diversity at University of Waterloo.

The revised Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between FAUW and the University, in support of the Policy 76/77 agreement, has passed by a majority vote of FAUW’s voting members. Turnout was over 65% of voting members. 

This vote required a double majority by lecturers and professors to ratify the changes to the MoA. The results by rank are as follows: 

• 94% of voting lecturers were in favour of ratification 

• 88.6% of voting professors were in favour of ratification 

• 90.1% of all voters were in favour of ratification 

Detailed certified results are available on the MoA ratification vote 2024 webpage. 

These results mean that the changes to Policy 76/77 agreed to in December 2023 can move forward. The next step is for these policies to be approved by the Board of Governors at their April meeting. 

The changes outlined in Policy 76/77 will come into effect September 1, 2024.

On Wednesday, February 7, 2024, voting members of the Faculty Association (FAUW) will be asked to vote to ratify a revised Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between FAUW and University of Waterloo. These revisions are necessary following the joint approval of the mediated changes to Policies 76 and 77, announced December 6, 2023. 

Voting will close at 12 p.m. EST on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.

The Faculty Association and Staff Association have teamed up to print and distribute more than 5,000 pride flag stickers to employees. Posting your sticker somewhere visible in your workspace is one small way to show your support for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in the wake of the hate attacks of June 28 targeting that community. We hope that thousands of pride stickers displayed all over our four campuses will help send the message that all members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community belong at Waterloo. 

Each unit will get a package of flags to distribute amongst staff and faculty, so talk to whoever handles the mail for your department!
