Congratulations to Vickie Vainionpaa (BA 2015) for being awarded first place in the Ontario Society of Artists (OSA) Emerging Artist Exhibition.
The exhibition runs until October 23, 2016 at the Neilson Park Creative Centre, 56 Neilson Drive, Etobicoke.
The Visual Culture of Berlin (FINE 293/393 or GER 298)
Discover the visual culture of Berlin as we explore the city’s architecture, museums, historical sites, parks, artists’ studios, cuisine, and other attractions. The course consists of on-campus classes and 10-day trip to Berlin (February 16-26, 2017).
All students in good standing are eligible – there are no prerequisites for the course.
Suzy Lake’s practice ranges from photography and video to performance. Gender, body politics and identify issues have been present in her work since the late 1960s.
Brooklyn-based Janet's Brigg's solo exhibition opens November 3rd at the University of Waterloo Art Gallery (UWAG) so students will have the opportunity to see the work first-hand.
2016 Sobey Award winner Abbas Akhavan was born in Tehran and lives in Toronto.
We are happy to have 2006 Fine Arts alumni, visual artist Lauren Hall, return to the department to give a talk on her work.

Referencing the study of rapid eye movements (saccades) and short, subsequent stops in between (fixations), Fixations & Saccades brings together a selection of recent work by six multidisciplinary artists whose process is grounded in abstraction.
Graduating students from the Department of Fine Arts will present a performance piece MOTUS II.
The show will take place at the Kitchener Public Library Theatre on June 23rd from 6:30-8:30. There will also be an Art show and sale located in the reception area of the theatre.
