Fine Arts Alumna Amanda Rhodenizer has been awarded a $15,000 grant from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation. The Foundation provides grants to emerging artists, working in a representational style, from all around the world.
Fine Arts faculty member Tara Cooper along with Jenn Law have co-edited Printopolis, a book focused on the current state of printmaking practice and collecting in Toronto and beyond. It was inspired by the 2010 print symposium hosted by Open Studio and includes essays reflecting on Open Studio’s more than 45 year history, as well as artist pages specifically designed for the publication.
Fine arts alumna Natalie Hunter (MFA 2013) was awarded the commission to create a public art piece for the Bridgeport Community Centre. This is part of the City of Kitchener’s public art program to install site-specific works of art at newly renovated and constructed facilities.
Congratulations to Vickie Vainionpaa (BA 2015) for being awarded first place in the Ontario Society of Artists (OSA) Emerging Artist Exhibition.
The exhibition runs until October 23, 2016 at the Neilson Park Creative Centre, 56 Neilson Drive, Etobicoke.
Fine Arts alumna Karli Campitelli (BA 2016) has been awarded a residency in Skagaströnd, Iceland.
NES Artist Residency is a multidisciplinary residency and accepts applicants from all creative fields and career stages. It is one of the largest residencies in Iceland and currently hosts between 90-120 artists each year.
The festival organization is currently accepting submissions for artistic contributions to NIGHT\SHIFT 2016. This year’s festival will take place in select downtown Kitchener locations and culminate in a free, multi-venue main event on Saturday, November 5th, 2016. Details about the application can be found on the website.
The submission deadline is Monday, August 22nd.
Scott Everingham (MFA 2009) has been awarded Jon Imber Painting Fellowship at the Vermont Studio Centre for May, 2017.
Fine Arts student Steven Restagno and Fine Arts Alumna (BA 2003) Soheila Esfahani were both winners at the 2016 Waterloo Region Arts Awards.
Steven received a Leading Edge Award which recognizes young artists 25 years old or under. Soheila was the winner of the Visual Arts Award.
Amanda Rhodenizer's (MFA 2014) painting Turf & Twig is included in the show "Terroir" at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. The show runs from June 25, 2016 – January 15, 2017.
Lois's work appear in past PRESENT future at Erin Stump Projects in Toronto.
