Cryosphere Research Group Seminar

Thursday, November 26, 2015 12:00 pm - 12:00 pm EST (GMT -05:00)

The Cryospheric Science Group of the Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change (IC3) is pleased to announce the monthly Cryosphere Research Group Seminar Series for November given by Gabrielle Alix and Dr. Julie Friddell of the Canadian Cryospheric Information Network/Polar Data Catalogue, entitled "Where Can I Find Data for my Research?  The Polar Data Catalogue and the Global Data Sharing Network."

The Polar Data Catalogue of the Canadian Cryospheric Information Network is one of Canada’s largest online sources of research data and information from the Arctic and Antarctic.  During the past year, many new satellite images and datasets, including oceanic observations, coastline erosion, and wildlife photographs, were added to the repository, which are of great interest to the Canadian and international cryospheric and remote sensing research communities.  In October 2015, CCIN/PDC hosted the international Polar Data Forum at the University of Waterloo to improve data sharing and access for facilitating research and discovery.  In this presentation, we will provide an overview of these and other activities and welcome your suggestions on how we may improve our service to the UW research community.
