Graduate Studies Endowment Fund (GSEF) seeks treasurer

The Graduate Studies Endowment Fund (GSEF) at the University of Waterloo was created by a graduate student referendum in 2001-2002 for the purpose of "funding an on-going commitment to enhance the learning, research, and overall experience of graduate students at the University.

UWaterloo Three Minute Thesis (3MT) 2020 champions are announced

When over 200 students registered to compete in the faculty-based 3MT heats between February 3 and March 13, not one of them anticipated that a global pandemic would render the in-person University-wide competition impossible.  But the show must go on!  With the faculty-based 3MT champions named, Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs hosted the first ever virtual 3MT competition.

Liz Nilsen named new Assistant Vice-President, Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs

On July 1, 2020, Professor Liz Nilsen began her role as the Assistant Vice-President, Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs. She joins Jeff Casello, Associate Vice-President, Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs and Kirsten Müller, also Assistant Vice-President, Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs.

Waterloo celebrates eight Vanier Scholars

The 2020 Vanier scholarship results have been released, and eight of our Waterloo doctoral students are recipients of this prestigious award.  The Government of Canada launched the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) program in 2008 to strengthen Canada's ability to attract and retain world-class doctoral students and establish Canada as a global centre
